Based on Thomas Hardy's classic novel Tess of the D'Urbervilles, 'Trishna' tells the chronicle of one woman whose life is destroyed by a union of have affection for and situation. Set in contemporaneous Rajasthan, Trishna (Freida Pinto) meets a moneyed young British businessman Jay Singh (Riz Ahmed) who has come to India to act in his male parent's public-house employment. After an misadventure destroys her male parent's Jeep, Trishna goes to act for Jay, and they sink in have affection for. But despite their feelings for each other, they cannot fly from the conflicting pressures of a rustic association which is changing swiftly through industrialisation, urbanisation and, above all, nurture.
